Sophisticated Graphics

J/View3D is a high performance 3D visualization toolkit layered on top of Java 3DÖ. J/View3D simplifies the task of creating sophisticated interactive data visualizations. A developer using the toolkit is not required to have Java 3D or DirectX/OpenGLÖ programming experience. Minimal Java programming experience is all you need for rapid development of 3D graphics applications with J/View3D.

Bursting with Benefits

J/View3D offers a higher level API that is more intuitive than Java 3D or OpenGL. You can concentrate on your data because the data model is specified in real world coordinates. J/View3D uses the model, view, controller paradigm which yields a better way of designing, building and understanding how a 3D graphics application works. This translates into better quality, reliability, code reuse, extensibility and customer satisfaction. J/View3D also rests on top of the benefits of using the Java language itself. In addition to cross-platform operation, networking, and threading, GUIs and applets are easy when utilizing JavaÖ.

Full Functionality

J/View3D provides the ability to visualize, manipulate, annotate and edit a set of 3D objects. The toolkit architecture consists of three basic components: a view, a data model, and a set of control objects that interact with the view and data models.

The view handles the entire Java 3D interface and creates the canvas for rendering to the screen. The user can enjoy the benefits of scene graph technology because J/View3D builds and updates a Java 3D scene graph.

The data model allows you to create J/View3D Shapes including points, lines, polygons, volumes, text, markers, quad meshes, triangle meshes, and supplementary objects such as lights and axes. The shapes can have individual or shared graphical attributes, which include color, texture, lighting and fill type. Collections of shapes can be placed in containers with a shared transformation matrix.

Control objects enable the manipulation of the view and data models, including rotation, translation, zooming, picking, selection and interactive editing.
